Most Minecraft farms only run while a player is close enough to keep the area active. A hosted bot can be that player. This guide covers which farms it suits, how to park the bot in the right place, and how to keep it there.
Which farms work
The bot stands still and stays connected. That is enough for any farm that only needs a player nearby.
| Works | Why |
|---|---|
| Crop, sugar cane, bamboo, and kelp farms | They grow while the chunk is active |
| Iron farms | Golems spawn while a player is in range |
| Mob farms with fall damage or other automatic kills | Mobs spawn around a nearby player |
| Furnace arrays, composters, brewing | They keep running in loaded chunks |
| Needs a paid plan | How |
|---|---|
| Farms where you hold attack | A macro can hold attack or click on a timer |
| Farms where the bot must eat to stay alive | Auto Eat eats when hunger drops |
| Does not work | Why |
|---|---|
| AFK fishing | The bot does not fish yet |
| Villager trading | Not automated yet |
Park the bot in the right spot
The bot appears wherever the account last logged out, and Anti-AFK does not move it.
- Join with the game and stand exactly where the farm needs you. For mob farms, that is the AFK platform. For iron farms, it is the spot the design specifies.
- Log out there.
- Press Start in the dashboard.
To check the position without the game, open Radar or the World preview. Both need a paid plan.
Keep it safe
The bot cannot defend itself, so the spot has to be safe on its own.
- Light the area and close it in, so nothing can reach the bot
- Keep it out of water streams and off pressure plates
- On servers with PvP, pick a place other players cannot get to
Keep it there
- Anti-AFK is on by default and only turns the bot's head or makes it sneak. It does not move the bot off its block.
- Auto-Reconnect brings the bot back after a server restart, at the spot where it was.
- If your server needs a command after joining, such as
/home farm, add it under Post-Spawn Actions. If it shows a login window, set the password in the Server Login plugin. - If a restart sends you to a hub, use Auto-Rejoin. See the auto-reconnect guide.
Collecting the output
Items that drop within reach of the bot are picked up the same way any player picks them up, until the inventory is full. For a farm that runs for hours, send the output to hoppers and chests instead of relying on the bot's inventory.
On a paid plan, Inventory shows what the bot is carrying and lets you drop or move stacks.
How long it runs
The Free plan gives 15 minutes of AFK time a day, or 3 hours for Discord members: enough to test that the bot stands where it should. For a farm that runs overnight you need unlimited AFK, from a Tip boost ($4 for 30 days) or a subscription. See Plans.
Check the server's rules
Some servers limit AFK farming or ban AFK accounts. Read the rules before you leave a bot at a farm.
