Stay Online in Minecraft With Your PC Off

Stay online in Minecraft with your PC off: how a hosted AFK bot replaces a PC left running, how to hand over from the game, and what it does while you are away.

2 min readUpdated

Staying online in Minecraft normally means a PC running the game the whole time. A hosted bot moves that job to our servers. This guide explains what changes, what stays the same, and how to set up the hand-over.

How it works

Your Minecraft account logs in to the server from our machine instead of yours. To the server it is a normal player standing still. Your PC is not part of the connection, so you can shut it down, close the browser, or lose your home internet without the bot noticing.

The dashboard is only a window onto that session. Opening it shows chat and status. Closing it changes nothing.

Hand over from the game to the bot

A Minecraft account can only be online once. If you start the bot while you are still in the game, one of the two gets disconnected.

  1. In the game, walk to the spot where you want to stand.
  2. Log out. The server remembers that position.
  3. In the dashboard, press Start. The bot appears at the same spot.

To take over again, press Stop first, then join with the game.

What the bot does while you are away

  • Stays connected and reconnects after server restarts and connection drops
  • Looks around or sneaks every few minutes so the server does not kick it for idling
  • Sends the commands you saved right after it joins, such as /home or /warp
  • Keeps the chat feed running so you can read it later or reply from your phone

What it does not do

On its own, the bot does not mine, build, fight, eat, or walk anywhere. It holds your place. With a Tip boost or a subscription, Auto Eat keeps it fed and Macros (in beta) can click, hold attack, or walk to a spot for it. Anything a macro cannot do, such as fishing, still needs you.

How long it stays

On the Free plan the bot stays for your daily AFK time: 15 minutes, or 3 hours as a Discord member. That resets at midnight UTC. A Tip boost ($4 for 30 days) or a subscription removes the limit, which is what you need for overnight sessions. See Plans.

Know when something happens

Turn on browser push in Settings to get an alert when the bot stops and cannot get back on its own, for example after reconnecting keeps failing. Link Discord to get the same alert as a direct message. If you install the dashboard as an app on your phone, push alerts arrive there. The chat from your phone guide covers the alerts paid plans add.
